About Hawthorne Attorneys

Nigeria’s premier remote law firm delivering specialized legal excellence

OUR STORY AT HAWTHORNE ATTORNEYS

This is why we started Hawthorne Attorneys.

When we began our careers in the legal profession, we had the privilege of learning within a system built on discipline, precedent, and respect for the rule of law. Those foundations remain essential to good practice. But it also became clear to us, very early on, that the modern client requires more than tradition alone. Clients need lawyers who are responsive, strategic, and capable of resolving problems with efficiency and sound judgment.

We started Hawthorne Attorneys with a deliberate purpose: to build a firm that combines the rigor of established legal practice with the clarity, speed, and practicality demanded by today’s world.

As young lawyers, we understand that credibility is not given, it is earned through preparation, consistency, and results. This reality shapes the culture of this firm. We approach every matter with discipline, we prepare thoroughly, and we remain focused on what ultimately matters to the client: a solution that is effective, timely, and legally sound.

At Hawthorne, we are a progressive firm in the truest sense. We respect the traditions of the profession, but we are not bound by methods that no longer serve our clients. We believe legal work should be precise, direct, and purposeful. Wherever possible, we seek the most efficient path to resolution, without compromising the strength of our advocacy or the quality of our advice.

Our role is not simply to argue the law, our role is to guide our clients through complex situations with clarity, confidence, and practical judgment.

This is the principle on which Hawthorne Attorneys was founded, and it remains the standard by which we practice every day.

Meet Our Partners

Dynamic young lawyers with diverse experience and specialized expertise

As a Co-Founding Partner at Hawthorne Attorneys, Elijah focuses on guiding clients through intricate regulatory frameworks, corporate governance matters, and cross-border legal issues. His approach is centered on aligning business goals with ethical standards and risk management, enabling companies to scale sustainably while making a positive contribution to both local and global communities.

Before establishing the firm, Elijah built experience across public sector institutions and private legal practice. One notable role was with the Bank of Industry Limited (BOI), where his responsibilities included document drafting, property title verification, negotiation, and asset recovery. In that capacity, he worked closely with banking officials, corporate clients, and various government agencies, an experience that gave him a solid foundation in regulatory compliance, procedural rigor, and the dynamics of business growth and sustainability in Nigeria.

In his private practice and corporate advisory work, Elijah has handled a wide spectrum of engagements, from contract structuring and tax compliance to regulatory risk management and corporate record-keeping. His work has spanned both in-office settings and remote collaborations with legal firms and corporate entities, involving transaction support, due diligence exercises, and regulatory assessments.

Beyond commercial practice, Elijah has remained active in public-interest and policy-oriented efforts, offering legal support through advocacy initiatives. This aspect of his career informs his pragmatic, results-focused style, with a strong emphasis on clarity, operational efficiency, and proactive risk assessment.

He earned his Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.) and is admitted as a Barrister and Solicitor of the Supreme Court of Nigeria. He is currently pursuing an LL.M. degree within Nigeria.

Elijah’s professional approach is characterized by meticulous analysis, sound discretion, and a steadfast dedication to delivering legal advice that is both precise and commercially pragmatic.

Kitgak is a Co-Founding Partner of Hawthorne Attorneys, where he advises on corporate and commercial law, regulatory compliance, dispute resolution, and cross-border legal matters. His practice focuses on providing strategic legal guidance to individuals, businesses, and institutions navigating complex legal and regulatory environments.

Prior to co-founding the firm, he gained experience in both public-sector and private practice, including working with the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), where he was involved in prosecution support, legal research, and the review of financial and regulatory cases. His work required close engagement with investigative teams, government agencies, and legal officers, and provided him with a strong grounding in compliance, procedure, and the practical application of statutory and regulatory frameworks. In private and corporate advisory roles, he has acted on a broad range of matters involving contractual arrangements, tax and regulatory compliance, risk management, and corporate documentation.

He has also advised clients on cross-jurisdictional issues, including migration-related applications, international documentation, and matters requiring coordination across multiple legal systems. His experience includes both in-office and remote engagements with legal practices and corporate clients, supporting transactions, due diligence exercises, and regulatory reviews.

Alongside his commercial work, he has remained engaged in public-interest and policy-related initiatives, providing legal support through non-profit organisations involved in access-to-justice programmes, social protection work, and institutional advocacy. This background informs his practical, solution-driven approach to legal problems, with particular attention to clarity, efficiency, and risk awareness.

He holds a Bachelor of Laws (LL.B) and is a Barrister and Solicitor of the Supreme Court of Nigeria.
His practice is defined by careful analysis, sound judgment, and a commitment to delivering precise and commercially sensible legal advice.
